METROPOLIS – A man was arrested and charged over the weekend for breaking into a trailer located on 4th and Girard in Metropolis and stealing tools according to Metropolis Police.
Police met with the victims Saturday. They caught the burglary on video. The victims then went to a home to speak to one of the workers. They were able to identify the offender as 41-year-old Scott A. Conley of Metropolis. Officers learned that Conley was inside the home sleeping. Officers then viewed the video and also recognized Conley as being the thief. Conley had used a crow bar to force the locks of the trailer and then removed the items. Conley was taken into custody. Most of the items had been recovered with a value close to $3,000 however, about a thousand dollars’ worth of items are still missing.
Conley was charged with Burglary, Theft, Possession of Burglary Tools, Criminal Trespass and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
