Failure in Clearwave Fiber’s Transport Network Caused Recent Outages

MARION – An issue with Clearwave Fiber’s transport network caused many in our area to be without phone and internet service Sunday evening and again for a few hours Monday afternoon.

Charles Lawrence, President, Residential, of Clearwave Fiber, says their system is built with redundancy, meaning when one component fails, another will pick it up. Lawrence says two independent, isolated events happen in their network Sunday evening, which caused their backup system to fail. Work began on the problem and a temporary fix was put in place to return service back to Clearwave’s customers until a more permanent solution could be done during a maintenance period. But that temporary solution failed Monday afternoon.

Several law enforcement agencies, businesses and other agencies were affected by the outages.

Lawrence apologizes for any inconvenience the outages may have caused. He says they are working around the clock to make sure the network is as stable as possible.
