Ava Woman Injured in Weekend Crash in Jackson County

AVA – One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to crash on Illinois 151 at the intersection of Sharp Rock Road in rural Ava around 9:50 p.m.

According to evidence at the scene along with driver and witness statement, a 2003 gray Subaru car, driven by 38-year-old Elizabeth Koczwara of Ava, was going south on Illinois 151 preparing to turn left onto Sharp Rock Road when at the same time a white 2006 Chevy van, driven by 54-year-old Angela Kilpatrick of Vergennes, was going north on Illinois 151.

Koczwara turned left in front of Kilpatrick’s vehicle causing Kilpatrick to strike Koczwara’s vehicle.

Koczwara was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Kilpatrick and her passengers were not hurt.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Ava Fire Department, Campbell Hill Fire Department, and the Jackson County Ambulance Service.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash.
