Amato Joins McLeansboro Police as SRO/Patrolman

MCLEANSBORO – The McLeansboro Police Department has a new School Resource Officer/Patrolman.

The police department posted on its Facebook page that Anthony Amato was recently hired and will cover school facilities within McLeansboro. This will include Hamilton County Jr./Sr. High School, East Side Grade School and the Hamilton County Pre-school.

Amato comes to the McLeansboro Police Department with years of training and experience.

After his service in the United States Navy, Amato started his career in 2006 as an Auxiliary Officer and then as a sworn Officer in Buckner in 2008. He later transitioned into a role as a patrolman with the village of Ina.

Along with his law enforcement training, Amato has three separate associate degrees to include an Associate in Criminal Justice, an Associate in IT Systems Cyber Security, an Associate in IT Systems Specialist and a number of other occupational certificates. He is also a part of a current assignment to an Illinois Attorney General’s Office Task Force where he specializes in computer forensics.

Amato has expressed that he is very excited for his new role in the school system. He believes that his experience in law enforcement and as a father will help him to become a great asset in the day to day operations within our school system.
