HARRISBURG – A Saline County man lost his life in a two-vehicle accident just before 9 Friday morning on southbound U.S. 45 east of Hilltop Road near Harrisburg.
According to preliminary information from Illinois State Police, a Ford pickup truck, driven by 42-year-old James D. Long of Eldorado, turned from Liberty Road onto U.S. 45 South. A Dodge Caravan, driven by 55-year-old Robert L. Doggett of Carrier Mills, was going south on U.S. 45 and failed to slow down in time and struck the rear of Long’s truck.
ISP says Doggett was declared dead. Long was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
