Ribbon Cutting Set for Carbondale’s Newest Bike Path

CARBONDALE – A ribbon cutting ceremony for Carbondale’s newest bike path will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
Mayor Carolin Harvey will speak at the event. The name of this newest path will then be revealed.
The City recently completed construction of its newest bike path. It was funded by a Transportation Enhancement Program grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
This new path starts on North Oakland Avenue, north of the Oakland Cemetery, across from the Green Earth Oakland Preserve. It is a mile-long, paved multi-use path that connects North Oakland Avenue and New Era Road. Attendees are encouraged to come on their bikes or on foot to explore and enjoy this newest addition to Carbondale’s expanding bike lanes and trails.
In case of rain, the ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Friday, Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
