Threat Made Toward Williamson County Jail

MARION – A threat was made to the Williamson County Jail Friday morning.
According to Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich, the jail received an anonymous call of an explosive device on the property just after 9 a.m.
Investigators were able to quickly identify the caller as the patient of a mental health facility in the Chicago, Illinois area with ties to Williamson County.
The sheriff says there was never a threat to public safety.
Operations at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Jail, Courthouse, and Administration Building continued without disruption.
This matter has been referred to the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office for further review.
