MURPHYSBORO, Ill.— Diversify your egg production through a heritage chickens workshop on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Jackson County Extension office. Green, brown, tan, red, pink, and blue, not to mention all the shades in between – this is how you could describe the colors of your daily egg collection. There is a diverse range of heritage breeds for laying as well as meat birds. Whether you are looking to add to your farm stand or add to your personal flock, this program will make you want to collect them all!
The workshop will cover a variety of topics, including:
- Different heritage breeds and their eggs
- Selecting healthy chickens or young chickens
- Different coops, including moveable coops
- How to feed chickens for egg production
This program will begin at 5:30 p.m., at the Jackson County Extension Office at 402 Ava Rd., Murphysboro, IL 62966. There is also an option to attend this program online.
