Man Arrested in Williamson County for Not Being Compliant with His Sex Offender Registration

MARION – A man was recently arrested in Williamson County for being a non-compliant sex offender.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Antonio D. Avant was issued a citation for Violation of Sex Offender Registration and taken to the Williamson County Jail.

Around 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 28, sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle traveling on Dr. Springs Road near Cambria Road while committing violations of the Illinois vehicle code. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Avant.

Avant was identified as a sex offender who is required to register every 90 days. A check of Avant’s registration status discovered him to be non-compliant.

Avant was issued a citation for his offense and taken to jail.
