Chicago Man Arrested in Weekend Burglary at Carbondale Business

CARBONDALE – A Chicago man is in the Jackson County Jail for a burglary Carbondale Police say happened early Saturday morning in Carbondale.
Police say around 4:07 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 400 block of North Illinois Avenue for a burglary alarm. Officers located the suspect, 67-year-old Carlos J. Phenix of Chicago, actively engaged in burglarizing the business. Phenix fled from officers but was eventually captured after a brief foot pursuit. Property belonging to the business was located and returned. Phenix was charged with Burglary. He is lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
Police continue to investigate.
