Dispute at Carbondale Business Leads to Three Arrests

CARBONDALE – Three Carbondale residents were lodged in the Jackson County Jail following an incident late Tuesday afternoon at a North Washington Street business.

According to Carbondale Police, officers responded to the store for a panic alarm just before 5:30 p.m. They learned that three suspects walked into the store after a dispute with employees about their merchandise return policy. The suspects battered store employees, causing minor injuries, and fled the store in a vehicle. They were found in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane and detained.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Keith L. Smith and 32-year-old Keenan J. Reliford for Aggravated Battery and Mob Action. They were booked into jail pending a detention hearing. The third suspect was not charged and released after he was determined not to have been physically involved in the incident. Officers also arrested 32-year-old Kellie S. Loucks for Concealing or Aiding a Fugitive. Loucks was also booked into jail pending a detention hearing.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
