CARBONDALE – Five people were arrested and charged following a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of North Wall Street in Carbondale early Tuesday morning.
According to Carbondale Police, officers responded and found shell casings and bullet strikes to a home. Officers contacted the resident, 32-year-old Judious Kizeart, and found that he was not injured. As the investigation continued, Kizeart was arrested on several charges. A search warrant was executed at the home, resulting in the officers locating controlled substances and cannabis. Officers also located witnesses to the incident who provided a vehicle description and possible suspect information.
Officers and detectives continued their follow-up and eventually identified 26-year-old Kycho Parks, 27-year-old JaJuan Smith, and 31-year-old Demarcus Jones as suspects involved in the shooting. Officers and detectives later located and arrested Parks, Smith, and Jones in Carbondale. Officers also arrested 27-year-old Johnecia Kyles for her involvement in the shooting after the fact. All of the involved parties are known acquaintances. This investigation is active and ongoing.
Parks was charged with Attempted Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Armed Habitual Offender, and Possession of Cannabis.
Smith was charged with Attempted Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Armed Habitual Offender.
Jones was charged with Attempted Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Armed Habitual Offender.
Kyles was charged with Obstructing Justice and Aiding and Abetting.
Kizeart was charged with Criminal Damage to Property, Aggravated Resisting, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Manufacturing/Delivery of Cannabis.
Kizeart, Parks, Smith, Jones and Kyles were booked into the Jackson County Jail pending a bond hearing.
