BENTON – Franklin County Government has been awarded an Energy Transition Community Grant for $535,374.03 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
This funding, provided through DCEO’s Energy Transition Community Grant Program, is designed to assist communities in addressing the economic and social impacts associated with local energy plant or mine retirements. The grant will support critical projects aimed at strengthening community resilience and enhancing infrastructure across Franklin County Government.
“Franklin County is deeply honored to receive this funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity,” said Neil Hargis, Chairman of the Franklin County Board. “This investment represents an important step forward in improving county government infrastructure while supporting much-needed updates to our county facilities.”
DCEO will partner with Franklin County to implement the approved projects and ensure that the investment delivers long-term benefits to residents and local communities.
