DOWELL – A crash involving two motorcycles claimed one life and injured another early Saturday morning in Jackson County.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before 3 a.m. on Dowell Road near Chammess Road in rural Dowell.
Two motorcycles were going west on Dowell Road when one of the motorcycles, or motorcyclists, passed the others and made contact with one another. One of the motorcycles lost control and crashed. The driver was ejected off the bike, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person suffered non-life-threatening injuries was taken to an area hospital.
Alcohol impairment appears to be a contributing factor to the crash. No names were released. The roadway was closed for two hours.
