Bomb Threat at Marion Hospital Found False

MARION – Marion Police continue to investigate Friday afternoon’s bomb threat at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center.

Just before 12:30 p.m., police arrived to investigate the threat after hospital personnel said they received a phone call from a female saying a bomb was on the first floor. The first floor and the basement were evacuated as much as possible considering the condition of some patients.

Police and Marion firefighters searched the hospital and did not find anything. Two K-9’s from the Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad conducted another search and didn’t turn up anything.

Following the bomb squad’s search, the hospital was considered clear. All staff and patients were released back inside.

Anyone with information as to the caller’s identity should call Marion Police at 618-993-2124.
