JOHNSTON CITY – A SUV crashed into a Johnston City school bus on Illinois 37 at Foxcroft Drive shortly before 7:30 this morning.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, 30 kids were on the bus at the time of the accident. The bus was stopped to make a left turn when it was struck from behind by a SUV driven by Michael Redmon of Pittsburg. Road conditions were slick due to heavy rain.
The sheriff’s office along with Williamson County Fire, and Johnston City School District officials responded. All parents and guardians of students affected were notified. Out of an abundance of caution, several children were taken to area hospitals by parents or by ambulance for evaluation of minor injuries.
Redmon was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate and additional enforcement actions may be forthcoming.
