CARTERVILLE – A Carterville man has been charged after hitting a girl with his vehicle and then fleeing the scene in the 1000 block of South Division Street around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon.
According to Carterville Police, the girl suffered multiple injuries and was taken by Carteville EMS to a second location where she was airlifted to at St. Louis area hospital.
Police quickly found the vehicle involved in the accident and arrested 45-year-old Joseph Uhls. Uhls has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Great Bodily Harm.
Crainville Police, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police assisted Carterville Police with the incident.
