MARION – A soft lockdown was initiated at three Marion schools shortly after 11 a.m. Friday in response to potential suspicious activity nearby.
Marion Unit 2 Superintendent Becky Moss said Marion Police requested the lockdown at Longfellow Elementary School, Marion High School, and Marion Junior High School in accordance with the district’s emergency preparedness procedures.
There were no disruptions to classes during the lockdown.
The soft lockdown was lifted at 11:14 a.m. following clearance from Marion Police.
Meanwhile, Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion was placed on a brief lockdown Friday. Deaconess did not release any details as to why the hospital went on lockdown.
