Second Suspect in Carbondale Home Burglary, Vehicle Theft Arrested

CARBONDALE/MT. VERNON – Carbondale Police say a man wanted on a warrant for a recent Residential Burglary and Vehicle Theft was found and arrested Sunday in Mt. Vernon while investigating an unrelated criminal offense in their jurisdiction.

Forty-three-year-old Brian K. Adams was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting transfer back to Jackson County.

Adams, along with 40-year-old Gerald D. Stroud of Vergennes, were identified as suspects in this case that happened on July 8 in the 500 block of Deer Trail. Police say both men burglarized the home and stole a vehicle around 11:25 p.m.

Police found and arrested Stroud in the 700 block of East Main Street in Carbondale on July 9. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. An arrest warrant for Adams was obtained from the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office. It was believed that Adams may have been in the O’Fallon, IL, area. Police were able to recover the vehicle and some of the victim’s property.
