Joy Welch

MCLEANSBORO – Joy Welch, 80, of McLeansboro passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, at Fox Meadows Supportive Living in McLeansboro.

Joy was born November 18, 1944, in Henderson, KY, the daughter of Clayton Jones. She enjoyed her life with her companion, Irvin Ragan, and his entire family until his passing on July 22, 2017.

Joy was a member and secretary of Christian Chapel Baptist Church in McLeansboro. She volunteered at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, enjoyed reading and crocheting, but most of all, loved spending time with her grandchildren. She especially loved spending holidays with her family.

Survivors include her daughters:

  • Paula D. Webb and husband Jim of Elizabethtown, IL

  • Pam Welch and close friend Tom of Carmi, IL

Grandchildren include:

  • Ashley Siedler and husband Nathan of McLeansboro

  • Alex Webb and wife Jenny of Mt. Carmel, IL

  • Jacob Webb of Evansville, IN

  • Caleb Mitchell and wife Sydney of Evansville, IN

Great-grandchildren include:

  • Adlee Siedler

  • Bennett Webb

  • Meadow Mitchell

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. Joy is also survived by her best friends, Sharon and Kenny Ingram, as well as many others; a sister-in-law, Sharon Jones; and a brother-in-law, Jacque Lamb.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Jones; her companion, Irvin Ragan; two brothers, Deway Jones and Ralph Jones; a sister, Phyllis Cantrell and her husband Kenny; one grandson, Joshua Brown; and many members of the Welch family.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Burial will follow at White County Memorial Gardens in Carmi, IL, with Pastor Eric Ragan officiating.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice and left at the funeral home.

The Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
