CENTRALIA – Jackie Grimes, 91, a former Franklin County resident, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Fireside House of Centralia.
She was born in Chicago Heights, IL, on April 6, 1934, the daughter of Jack Edward and Fleeta (Burton) Creighton.
Jackie was a strong and determined woman who raised her five children on her own while living with blindness. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and music. A loyal Cardinals fan, she also cherished her many friends, whom she considered family. She was a member of Whittington Church.

She is also survived by her special grandchildren who spent the most time with her and helped care for her: Stacie, Nikki, Trevor, and Sean; eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, one son (Charlie), two daughters-in-law (Lana and Loretta “Cookie”), and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 4th, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with Rev. Mark Minor officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
