MT. VERNON – Members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Vernon Police Department, Illinois State Police and United States Marshals recently completed Registered Sex Offender and Violent Offender Against Youth compliance checks throughout the county.
Out of 50 registered offenders that were checked, 31 were found to be in compliance. Of those checked, there were 19 of which they had no contact with.
Jefferson County has a total of 130 registered offenders. Seventy-four are registered as living in the City of Mt. Vernon, 55 are registered in the County and one is registered as homeless.
Compliance checks will continue throughout the year.
