Deputies Find Man in Woods after Suspicious Vehicle Call in Rural Dubois

DUBOIS – Two Washington County Sheriff’s deputies found a man needing medical attention after recently responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle in rural Dubois.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputies were told by dispatch that the vehicle was teal in color, was driving around in a field and got stuck in a waterway. They were also told the male subject was last seen out in the field next to the location of the vehicle.

After the deputies arrived, they walked along the ditch line near the stranded vehicle and saw a trail in tall grass leading to the woods near the location. They heard someone yelling for help in the woods. The deputies ran along the trail and found the man lying down in the woods saying he may have had a stroke and was dehydrated.

The deputies notified dispatch that they had found the man saying he needed medical attention. They took the man out of the woods and met another deputy. The man was given water and kept cool in a patrol car until an ambulance arrived. He was taken to Washington County Hospital.
