MARION – A recent traffic stop in Marion ended with a woman being arrested on drug-related charges.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, deputies saw a vehicle near the intersection of Future Street and East College Street commit traffic and equipment violations.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and a sheriff’s K9 unit arrived to do a free air sniff of the vehicle which alerted to a positive odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was done.
The driver and their passenger, identified as Hattie S. Cooley, were asked to get out of the vehicle. A deputy saw Cooley trying to hide something in her bra as she got out.

While searching the vehicle, deputies found a purse with a clear plastic bag with suspected psilocybin mushrooms and multiple bags each containing either a powdery or crystal like substance. A debit card with Cooley’s name on it was also found in the purse.
Two of the bags field tested positive for meth and the remaining bags field tested positive for cocaine.
Cooley told deputies the purse belonged to her. After being read the Miranda warning, Cooley said she had a bag of cocaine in her bra. A female deputy arrived on scene and found that bag in her bra. The driver was cited and released at the scene.
Cooley was cited for Methamphetamine Possession and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
