VIENNA – A Southeast Missouri man was arrested following a high-speed pursuit that began in Pulaski County and ended in Vienna Saturday night.
According to Vienna Police Chief Jim Miller, the pursuit, with speeds reaching 120 mph, started around 8:50 p.m. near mile marker 8 on I-57 with the vehicle exiting at U.S. 51 in Dongola. The chase continued east on Illinois 146 into Vienna where the vehicle turned north onto North 3rd Street, passing Vienna Grade School. The vehicle continued going north and turned into the Vienna High School new lower level parking lot where it crashed into a ditch around 9:10 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Five individuals were initially taken into custody. The driver, 19-year-old Jaquavius Alstin D’ion Oglesby, of Sikeston, was arrested on several felony charges. The four additional occupants were later released.
Agencies involved in the pursuit included the Mounds Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jonesboro Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
