SPRINGFIELD – The United Way of South Central Illinois in Mt. Vernon will receive one of 10 Charitable Trust grants from Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs to help people stay in their homes and get job training.
UWSCI will receive $20,000 from the nearly $200,000 unveiled by Frerichs Thursday.
An independent panel chose 10 grant recipients from 68 applicants.
Charitable Trust grants help nonprofits fulfill their missions to serve people in need by providing housing, food, and workforce and economic development assistance.
