Carbondale to Begin Water Main Replacement near Murdale Shopping Center

CARBONDALE – A water main replacement project is set to begin Wednesday in the Murdale Shopping Center area of Carbondale.

According to a city press release, work will begin west of North Emerald Lane, run through the alley behind the shopping center, and connect to North Glenview Drive. near Turley Park. Some services on West Woodriver Drive will be affected. The project is expected to take 8 to 10 weeks to complete.

There may be some water service interruptions for short periods of time during the water main replacement process. The city and the contractor hope to keep these to a minimum.

Service outages are normally planned and will occur between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., but could be at other times due to unforeseen instances. The city does not expect any boil water orders due to its strict water testing policies. If you experience discolored water, please open your cold water faucet until it is clear.
