Belle Rive Man Charged with Burglary, Firearm Offenses

BELLE RIVE – A Belle Rive man was recently arrested and charged in connection with a home burglary in Jefferson County.

According to the sheriff’s office, authorities received information on Friday, Jan. 2 about stolen property taken during the burglary that happened early last month.

On Saturday, Jan. 3, 24-year-old David K. Porter of Belle Rive was charged with residential burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, possession of a stolen firearm, and defacing identification marks on a firearm. An IDOC parole warrant was issued for Porter earlier in the week.

A search of the home found Porter to be in possession of multiple stolen items, including firearms. The serial number on one firearm had been defaced. Another firearm was confirmed to have been stolen during the burglary. Other items reported stolen from the home were also recovered.

Online court records show Porter is scheduled to have a pre-trial hearing on Jan. 22 in Jefferson County.
