BROWNFIELD – A fatal crash is under investigation in Pope County.
According to Illinois State Police, around 11:30 Friday night, a car left northbound Illinois 145 near Bay Valley Road and struck a power pole. The only person in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic was shut down in this area for almost three and a half hours. The roadway reopened around 3:20 a.m.
