MARION – A 93-year-old man is recovering following an early Tuesday morning house fire in Marion.
According to the Marion Fire Department, firefighters were called to home on East Boyton Street and Cedar Lane around 2:30 a.m. The blaze had already fully engulfed the home and flames were coming out of the roof.
Firefighters learned the man was trapped inside. They went in and began searching for him. He was found and rescued from his bedroom and taken outside. CPR was then performed on the victim. Authorities say the man is expected to recover.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time. The home is a total loss.
