MARION – Two people were lodged in the Williamson County Jail after deputies found illegal drugs during a traffic stop at the intersection of Illinois 148 and 13 in Marion late Christmas Eve night.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies saw the driver, Gary M. Brown, disregard a traffic control device and pulled him over. He was driving on a suspended license and arrested. Brown also had a passenger, Leah A. Bean.
Deputies lawfully searched the vehicle and recovered cannabis, meth and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle and from Bean.
Brown and Bean were both cited for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Brown was also cited for No Valid Driver’s License, Driving while License Suspended and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.
