MCLEANSBORO – The City of McLeansboro will be paying more for natural gas starting in May of next year.
The City Council this week approved raising the city’s current rate of $2.10 per 1,000 cubit feet over cost to $3.25 per 1,000 cubit feet over cost.
That rate will be revisited along with all other city rates on a yearly basis. There is nothing set in a three-year period.
The increase was recommended by Utility Safety and Design, Inc. – the engineering firm the city uses for its natural gas system and assisted the city with the current natural gas rate study.
