Grant Funding Cuts Forces Du Quoin Schools to End After-School Programs

DU QUOIN – The Du Quoin school district will end its after-school programs at three of its schools today due to grant funding cuts.

According to a school district press release, this includes several high school clubs, tutoring support, the K-8 after-school program and related events.

The district will be unable to offer these programs for the remainder of this school year unless funding is reversed according to Supt. Diana Rea.

Rea says the decision to cut funding is not a reflection of the quality or impact of the programming, but the result of circumstances beyond the district’s control.

Rea encourages the community to contact their congressman or senator in order to reverse this decision and reinstate this important programming.
