Life-Saving Equipment Stolen from Brookport Fire Department

BROOKPORT – Some life-saving equipment was stolen from the Brookport Fire Department sometime late Thursday night into early Friday morning.

According to Fire Chief Joseph Wooten, a full set of Hurst brand extrication tools and the power unit for it, an orange K12 circular saw and a 10 pound sledgehammer were taken. Three people were seen on surveillance video. They hid their identity and were specific in taking the tools that could be used for further break-ins.

The footage has been shared and submitted to the Massac County Sheriff’s Office and the Brookport Police Department.

Anyone with information should contact the City of Brookport, the sheriff’s office or the police department.

Since the break-in, Chief Wooten says a set of loaner extrication tools were hand delivered to the fire department from the Makanda Township Fire Department. Six other fire departments and a fire equipment sales representative have also contacted Brookport Fire wanting to help.
