Thompsonville Man Faces Charges after Clash with Deputy

BENTON – A Thompsonville man is facing charges after being arrested following an incident at a rural Franklin County business and with a sheriff’s deputy early Wednesday morning.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in about 44-year-old Clint J. Mueller causing a disturbance at the business. Mueller had left just before a responding deputy arrived.

The deputy found Mueller later walking a few blocks away from the business and told Mueller the business did not want him to come back. The deputy also told Mueller that he needed to do a compliance check in reference to his sex offender registration. Mueller then pick up a blunt object and threw it at the deputy hitting him in the leg.

When the deputy tried to arrest Mueller, a significant physical altercation took place. Eventually, Mueller was taken into custody and lodged in the Franklin County Jail charged with Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting a Peace Officer and Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer.
