HERRIN – A woman was arrested after illegal drugs, a handgun and a stolen ATV were found following a recent traffic stop in Herrin.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Opal M. Teschky was cited for Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (15 to 100 grams), Possession of Methamphetamine (15 to 100 grams), Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Another’s Credit Card – all felonies – along with three counts of misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle and Improper Display of Registration. She was booked into the Williamson County Jail.
Deputies stopped Teschky around 9:30 p.m. last Wednesday after noticing that she was traveling without proper display of a registration plate. Teschky was unable to provide proof of insurance and appeared nervous.
Deputies saw an ATV in the bed of the truck which had been spray painted multiple colors and had an ignition which had been visibly tampered with. The ATV had been reported stolen. The matter has been forwarded to investigators for further review.
During a consent search, deputies found a metal tin containing cocaine residue.
Deputies also recovered several grams of crystal meth, crack cocaine, loaded 9mm handgun, a digital scale and a glass smoking pipe – both with meth residue – three debit cards issued to someone else, additional drug paraphernalia and over $1,600 in cash during a lawful search of the vehicle.
Teschky was then cited and taken to jail.
