Herrin Traffic Stop Nets Two on Drug Charges

HERRIN – Two people are being held in the Williamson County Jail after illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in their vehicle at a traffic stop on Stotlar Road in Herrin late Monday night.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, James R. Burnett and Britny L. Sutton were cited for Delivery of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Controlled Substance – all felonies – along with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – a misdemeanor. Burnett was also cited for not having a valid driver’s license, failing to signal when required and driving on a suspended license.

The couple was pulled over after deputies saw their vehicle commit several traffic violations.

Deputies searched Burnett and found cocaine in his pocket. Meth, cocaine, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, drug packaging materials, and a digital scale were recovered following a search of the vehicle. Further information and statements provided by the couple led deputies to additional contraband concealed on Sutton’s person.
