CARBONDALE – A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a recent arson on North Illinois Avenue in Carbondale.
According to Carbondale Police, 57-year-old Martin M. Ramirez of Carbondale was booked into the Jackson County Jail charged with Aggravated Arson, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Endangering the Life and Health of a Child.
Police responded to the 1400 block of North Illinois Avenue around 8:30 last Thursday night and found a home on fire. No one was inside.
Ramirez tried to flee in his vehicle, but police stopped and arrested him. Ramirez was found with a gun at the time of his arrest. No injuries were reported.
