Larry Allen Baker

BENTON – Larry Allen Baker, 77, of Benton, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on April 10, 1948, in Lundale, West Virginia, to Arnold and Eula (Smith) Baker. Larry married Karen Shuping, and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2005.

Larry was a retired United States Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War.

He attended New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Benton. Larry was Past Master of the Benton Masonic Lodge #64, Past Commander of the Benton American Legion Post 280, Past Service Officer at the Benton V.F.W., and a past member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery Board.

Larry is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa Owens, and her husband, Doug; two grandsons, Mitchell D. Owens and his wife, Rebecca, and Jared T. Owens; four brothers, Herman Baker, Ed Baker, Phillip Baker, and Jack Baker; and his sister, Patty Hood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen Baker; his brother, Jerry Baker; and his infant sister, Patricia Baker.

Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home and Crematory, 301 South Main Street, Benton, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Pate Funeral Home in Benton. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Kurt Sanders officiating.

Burial will follow in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery.
