HERRIN – Herrin Police say three people tried to break into a vehicle in the 1900 block of West Adams Street early Thursday morning.
The homeowner reported going outside to investigate. The suspects fled the area leaving a truck behind in the roadway. The truck was reported stolen from a home on George Street in Herrin. It was returned to the owner.
A K-9 was brought in from West Adams Street area which led officers to a home in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street. However, no suspects were found.
Since that time, police have received several reports of home and vehicle burglaries throughout the city. Police are investigating.
