MCLEANSBORO – The Hamilton County Board approved the resignation of State’s Attorney Justin Hood at this week’s meeting. He will step down Jan. 1. No reason was given in his resignation letter as to why he’s stepping down.
The board is expected to formally announce the vacancy next month with someone being appointed as State’s Attorney in December.
Hamilton County Clerk Heather Bowman says Hood worked with her on the timing of his resignation letter for election purposes. Since that letter has been received, Bowman says the county can use the same filing period as all other candidates next week.
