CARBONDALE – A Jonesboro man was taken to the Jackson County Jail after being arrested for Robbery Thursday night in Carbondale.
According to Carbondale Police, officers responded to the 1300 block of East Main Street for a report of a robbery just after 6:30 p.m.
Officers learned the victim was sleeping near a business when they had contact with the suspect. The suspect then battered the victim, stole the victim’s property, and then ran away. The suspect, later identified as 57-year-old James J. Eakes, was described as a bald white male with a tattoo of the word “Vicious” under one eye and was wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt. The victim received a minor injury from the attack and declined medical treatment.
Officers later found Eakes in the area, arrested him for robbery and took him to jail.
