Severe Weather Threat Possible for Our Region This Weekend

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – It seems we’re going to have a stormy weekend as strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.

Most of Southern Illinois is in a marginal risk for severe weather. Areas to the north and south of Carbondale are in a slight risk for severe weather.

Two rounds of thunderstorms are possible Saturday. The first round looks to be Saturday afternoon over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. There will be a low end risk of a couple of brief tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail. The second round looks to occur Saturday night through early Sunday morning over the entire region. A couple brief tornadoes and damaging wind gusts will be the main threats with this round of storms.
