Herrin Shooting Suspect Arrested, Faces Gun Charges

HERRIN – A man is being held in the Williamson County Jail on gun-related charges stemming from Monday night’s shooting in Herrin.

Herrin Police say Maurice E. Boyd has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the Bayer Circle Drive area just after 6 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The scene was secured and there was no threat to the public.

Herrin Police Chief David Dorris says the suspect was quickly apprehended thanks to the swift action and response of the police department and other responding agencies.
