Herrin Traffic Stop Leads to Three Drug Arrests

HERRIN – Three people were arrested on drug-related offenses following a traffic stop Thursday morning on South Park Avenue in Herrin.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says the driver, Paul S. Puckett, and a passenger, Jeffrey D. Farris, were both cited for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia while another passenger, Jason L. Price, was also cited for Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Puckett was also cited for No Valid Registration and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. All three were booked into the Williamson County Jail.

A Herrin Police K-9 arrived, conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle, and provided a positive alert to the odor of illegal narcotics. Deputies conducted a lawful search of the vehicle and found drug packaging materials containing residue that field tested positive for meth and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies also recovered Suboxone and Alprazolam, both controlled substances. They also found a hypodermic syringe Farris was hiding between his waistband. It field tested positive for meth. Puckett also said he stored meth inside a glasses case found in the vehicle.
