CARMI – A 14-year-old girl was arrested on multiple charges after not stopping for police on 5th Street in Carmi early Saturday morning.
According to Carmi Police, the girl was arrested for Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, No Valid Driver’s License, Criminal Damage to Property, Theft over $500 (Vehicle Theft) and curfew violations.
Police tried to stop the girl around 2:10 a.m. but she fled. After speeds topped a danger in town, the pursuit ended. Police later found the vehicle crashed in the ditch north of Carmi off Centerville Road. It was discovered that the girl had just stolen the vehicle from home on Herbert Avenue. The girl was processed and released to her guardian around 4:25 a.m.
