CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation Tuesday announced that the northbound entrance and exit ramps at the Lick Creek interchange on Interstate 57 in Union County will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary to allow for pavement reconstruction along the ramps. Both northbound ramps are expected to reopen by 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The southbound entrance and exit ramps will remain open during this time.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
