JOHNSTON CITY – Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputies recently took a man into custody charging him with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm following an incident at a home in the 17000 block of Illinois 37 in Johnston City.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 4, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting that a process server, after attempting to serve legal papers, heard gunshots while leaving the home.
When deputies arrived, Steven R. King confronted them armed with a handgun. King hesitated for a few moments to put the gun down after deputies asked him to drop it. He lowered his weapon and deputies took him into custody and secured the gun without further incident.
King admitted that he fired a round into the ground because he didn’t want the process server on his property and intended to scare her away.
