BELLE RIVE – JoAnne Marie Seidel, 81, of Belle Rive, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Silver Foxes Senior Living and Rehabilitation in McLeansboro, with family by her side. She was born on April 19, 1944, in Kane County, Illinois, to her parents, Clyde Russell and Marjorie Eleanor (Richards) Russell. On Christmas Eve in 1966, she married Robert William Seidel, II, who survives.
JoAnne graduated from Mendota High School in 1962 and worked as a secretary for an industrial school for boys in Sheridan, Illinois. After marriage, she was a homemaker who focused on raising her family and being a farm wife. She loved flowers, hummingbirds, and dogs. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, reading, going to rummage sales, and collecting figurine salt and pepper shakers.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert William Seidel, II, of Belle Rive; sons: Robert William (Cheryl) Seidel, III, of Benton, Steven Russell (Sheila) Seidel of Bonnie, and Timothy Alan (Amanda) Seidel of McLeansboro; daughter, Jodi Marie (Caleb) Sanders of Benton; grandchildren: Lindsey (Zachary) Avery of Christopher, Jacob Seidel of Benton, Tiffanie Seidel of Belle Rive, Brittany (Matt) Young of Watson, Arkansas, Danielle (Jacob) Erwin of Archie, Missouri, Grace Seidel of Bonnie, Alex Seidel of Kansas City, Missouri, Addie Seymore of McLeansboro, Owen Sanders of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Nora Sanders of Benton, and Clara Sanders of Benton; and great-grandchildren Madison Young and Faith Young of Watson, Arkansas.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Eugene Richards; and sister, Janet Eileen (Richards) Lester.
In accordance with JoAnne’s wishes, her body will be cremated, and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Gholson Funeral Home of Dahlgren is assisting the family with arrangements.
