Herrin Man Arrested after Crack Cocaine Found at Traffic Stop

HERRIN – Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Herrin man after crack cocaine was found inside his vehicle following a traffic stop near the intersection of Oak and 19th Street in Herrin late Monday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies saw Ricky L. Monteith commit a traffic violation and was stopped. A K-9 unit was called in and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A lawful search found crack cocaine in a clear plastic bag located in the center console.

Monteith admitted ownership of the narcotics and was taken into custody without further incident. He was cited for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) and Disobeying a Stop Sign. Monteith was lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
